About Gerald

ger-in-kitchenGerald is CIA -- that’s Culinary Institute of America, from which he graduated in 1988. He has spent most of his life in the southwest, calling Albuquerque his hometown. Gerald has spent many years working in large hotels with a focus on banquets and fine dining. In Gerald’s home, the phrase was “dinner for 200 - no problem; dinner for two - big problem.” Of course, that was before the Beach House Bistro became a reality.

As with most chefs, Gerald always had the dream of having his own restaurant. In December 2001, his dream came true and he and Liz opened The Beach House Bistro. Even in these hard recessionary times, the dream goes on.

Enjoy their culinary genius! They spend a great deal of time making most of their menu from scratch. Oh, and Gerald’s Clam Chowder is to die for!

About Liz

Liz graduated from the California Culinary Academy in 1981. She studied classical cuisine, pastry preparation, production and presentation. When she was not in classes, she worked in the pantry department of A. Sabella Restaurant in San Francisco. Creativity is one of Liz’s strengths. She enjoys thinking of new ways to present desserts, new applications to old recipes, and, of course, her own presentation of life on the dining room floor of the Beach House Bistro.

drink-shakeShe is a lover of all animals and currently shares her home with four cats, one of which is living under the alias of Norman Bates, and the other three are catfish – Marlin, Salmon and Opah. Liz also has a dog named Ellie Mae. Liz and Ellie are nearly inseparable. Ellie is currently training with Liz for the up-coming Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk. It will be Ellie’s second event and, while she does not actually walk the 60 miles with Liz, she is at every grab-and-go pit and cheering station to encourage Liz onward. Liz raised almost $20,000 last year for the fight against breast cancer.
